SWBC Shared Purpose

Pray that God will protect and encourage families, marriages, and singles in the Church body, and grow as a community.

Father,
We thank you for the community you have given us, focused on you with a shared passion and love for one another.
Please watch over our families and help us to grow closer to you, following your love and guidance.
We ask for you to be present in our marriages, strengthening and growing our relationship with you.
We ask for wisdom and focus through singleness, that you will build a strong foundation and heart for the community built on your love.
Show us how to love each other well and allow us to help others see your love through our lives.
Amen.
Colossians 3:12: Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,

Am I expectant with my prayers—believing and trusting that God will answer them? Why or why not?
1 John 5:14-15: And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.”
That is amazing! The God of the universe hears us! He wants to know what we need. He cares about what we care about. So, when God says He will give us the things we ask for, He actually wants to know what we want. And He delights to hear our prayers:
Proverbs 15:8 (NKJV): The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
But the prayer of the upright is His delight.
God wants to hear your prayers. And God enjoys hearing your prayers. What does it mean to you when you hear that your prayers bring God joy?

Psalms

Psalm 13 (Listen)

How Long, O Lord?

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

13:1   How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever?
    How long will you hide your face from me?
  How long must I take counsel in my soul
    and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
  How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
  Consider and answer me, O LORD my God;
    light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
  lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
    lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.
  But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
    my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
  I will sing to the LORD,
    because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 14 (Listen)

The Fool Says, There Is No God

To the choirmaster. Of David.

14:1   The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
    They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
    there is none who does good.
  The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man,
    to see if there are any who understand,1
    who seek after God.
  They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
    there is none who does good,
    not even one.
  Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers
    who eat up my people as they eat bread
    and do not call upon the LORD?
  There they are in great terror,
    for God is with the generation of the righteous.
  You would shame the plans of the poor,
    but2 the LORD is his refuge.
  Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
    When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people,
    let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
